Besides the appropriate sports drink, energy bars and gels are often essential for a quick and easily digestible supply of energy during (endurance) exercise. Bars high in protein, fat and fiber slow gastric emptying and therefore the rate of absorption of the desired energy source (carbohydrates). In addition, these bars are often the cause of a feeling of satiety and gastrointestinal disorders.

6D ENERGY NOUGAT is low in protein and fiber and moderate in fat; it is therefore a bar rich in carbohydrates and easy to digest. Thanks to its soft texture, this compact energy source is very easy to chew, even in cold weather. This makes 6D ENERGY NOUGAT an excellent option to use just before exercise, and/or to alternate with other energy bars and gels during exercise. One bar contains 31g of carbohydrates in a 2:1 ratio of glucose to fructose. Thanks to this 2:1 ratio, the body can absorb up to 90 g of carbohydrates per hour. Unlike most other "energy bars", 6D ENERGY NOUGAT also contains 50 mg of sodium. The addition of sodium allows a rapid replenishment of salt stores in the body. This is particularly important for athletes who not only sweat a lot, but also sweat a lot of salts ("salty sweats"), and especially when exercising in a hot environment which leads to significant sweat losses. In such conditions, our 6D ENERGY FRUIT or 6D ENERGY CAKE might be a better option due to higher sodium content, which is 100mg and 141mg respectively.

How to use : 

Take 1-2 bars per hour of exercise, depending on duration and intensity of exercise and combination with other energy bars, gels or drinks. However, consideration should be given to the need for simultaneous hydration, salt supplementation and prevention of gastric/intestinal upset. In addition, personal preferences (eg solid or liquid energy, taste preferences) are also important. It is therefore necessary to have an integrated view of the use of sports drinks, gels and energy bars before, during and after exercise.

Due to the high concentration of carbohydrates (sugars) and sodium, it is recommended to always use 6d ENERGY NOUGAT in combination with water. This is to ensure proper absorption and to minimize the risk of gastrointestinal upset during exercise.
